Nebraska wines

Nebraska Wines is a high-end boutique vineyard based on Bruny Island, Tasmania. I was commissioned to design the vineyard logo, and labels for their first varietals - the cold climate Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, both under the Killora Cove umbrella. The designs explore the wild and elemental textures of the region, along with a nod to the island's strong seafaring history. The range will continue in 2021 with new varietals.

The logo mark

The logo mark is inspired by a cross-section of the Xanthorrhoea, a plant that grows in abundance on the Nebraska property, along with a nod to the strong navigational and seafaring history of Bruny Island. To create the final design, I placed the exact geo-loaction of Nebraska (43 ° 4’ 54.444’’ S 147 ° 20’ 21.9516’ ‘ E) in a circle and gave the numbers some 3D depth. This resulted in an abstract shape that is surprisingly similar to the whorls of a Xanthorrhoea trunk. The "N" for Nebraska also doubles as the sign on a map for due north.
