I’m a bit of a genealogy nerd, and have collected birth records for my ancestors dating as far back as the 1500s. So it was pretty exciting for me to be commissioned by the NSW Department of Births, Deaths and Marriages to create this LGBTQIA+ themed birth certificate. As a queer woman, it was important for me present an artwork that celebrated all sexualities and genders, so I illustrated a range of Australian animals to help remove gender from the focus of the illustration, and give our rainbow families the freedom to be seen as they wish to be. $1 from every sale of these birth certificates goes to Twenty10, which is one of my favourite queer youth organisations.
