Sometimes projects land on my desk that are so damn heartwarming. This music video was an epic collaboration between ARIA-nominated musician Jen Cloher, who wrote the music and lyrics with young people from Victoria, and array of other professionals in the film, music and design industries. The song examines the challenges young people can face and the determination they have to overcome fear and self doubt, find their voices, and share their inner roar.

I travelled to Victoria to run workshops with young people to illustrate elements for the video, including collage style creatures and flowers, as well as more traditional illustration styles. Almost everything in the animated section of the video was created by a young person.

I leant into 1980s lo-fi TV shows for the animated portion of the video, and worked in 3D space to create an colourful inner world for the main character.
